WeekendOut — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 9 May 2026
WeekendOut ("the App") is a personal-project Android app that helps you decide
where to spend a weekend in and around Bengaluru. This policy explains what
information the App collects, why, and how it is handled.
Who runs this app
WeekendOut is operated by Akhil Raj S, an individual developer based in
Bengaluru, India. Contact for any privacy questions or data-deletion
requests: akhilrajsanthosh@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
-
Anonymous user ID. When you first open the App, Firebase
Authentication creates an anonymous identifier so we can store the places
you save and your last-used preferences. We do not learn anything about
you from this ID; it is local to the App.
-
Google account info (only if you sign in). If you tap
"Continue with Google" on the save prompt, we receive your Google account
email address and display name from Google. We use these only to attach
your saved places to your account so they sync across devices and survive
reinstalls. We do not contact you, market to you, or share this with
anyone.
-
Saved places. The list of places you bookmark in the App
is stored against your user ID in Google Cloud Firestore.
-
Search preferences. Your most recent planner inputs (date,
group type, vibe, crowd, etc.) are sent to a server-side recommender so it
can rank places. Preferences are not personally identifying and are not
retained beyond the request, except for a short cache of the ranked list.
-
App Check tokens. Google's Firebase App Check issues an
anti-abuse token that proves the request is coming from the genuine app.
It does not identify you.
-
Crash and stability data. The App does not currently use
a crash reporting SDK. If we add one in a future release, we will update
this policy.
What we do not collect
- Your location is not requested or read by the App.
- Your contacts, photos, calendar, microphone or camera are never accessed.
- We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs that track you across other apps.
Where data is stored
Saved places and account data are stored in Google Cloud Firestore (region:
asia-south1, Mumbai). Recommendation requests pass through a
Cloudflare Worker, which forwards them to Google's Gemini API for ranking.
Standard transport encryption (HTTPS/TLS) is used end-to-end.
Third-party services we use
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, App Check)
- Google Cloud — Gemini API (for ranking)
- Cloudflare Workers (request proxy)
- Google Play Services (Sign-In via Credential Manager)
- Google Maps (only via the Android
geo: intent — no API call from us)
Each of these has its own privacy policy that applies when their service
handles a request. We do not share your data with anyone outside this list.
Children's privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children
under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Deleting your data
To delete your data, you can:
- Uninstall the App. Local state and the anonymous user
ID are wiped. If you had only used the app anonymously, no data
associated with you remains accessible.
- Email a deletion request to
akhilrajsanthosh@gmail.com
with the subject line "WeekendOut data deletion" and the email address
of your Google sign-in. We will delete your user document from Firestore
within 7 days and confirm by reply.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. The "Last updated" date at the
top will reflect the latest revision. Material changes will be announced
inside the App.
